The Zagreb Chamber Orchestra is made up of musicians who, by performing baroque, classical and contemporary music, want to present the richness and beauty of serious notes to a wider audience. Through the international Musica Maxima festival and numerous concerts and guest appearances, the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra and its musician friends from all over the world are trying to further encourage the love of classical music. In 2004, the Zagreb violinists, Mladen Dervenkar and Marko Mađarić, gathered fifteen highly educated young string players from the Academy of Music in Zagreb and relaunched the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra, which Rudolf Matz gathered back in 1937 with the idea of continuing the tradition of the Zagreb violinist school. The quality of ZKO's work so far has been recognized in cooperation with soloists such as Maxim Fedotov, "Russian Paganini" as he was called by Frankfurter Rundschau, "People's Artist" in 2002, winner of numerous prizes at international violin competitions (Tokyo and Moscow named after Tchaikovsky and Geneva named after Paganini); Monika Leskovar, winner of the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition for young people in Japan in 1995; Galina Petrova, Russian "People's Artist" in 2001; Francois Weigel, trained in the class of Olivier Messiaen, and the BBC described him as a musician of rarely seen technical and musical security, and others. Previous conductors Diane Pascal, Tonko Ninić, Orest Shourgot also contributed significantly to the orchestra. Today, the orchestra operates with great success under the leadership of Petromila Marica Jakas. Of particular importance to ZKO is the permanent cooperation and friendship with the Russian virtuoso Maxim Fedotov, who has been the honorary conductor since the very beginning of the orchestra, and since 2009 the artistic director of the international Musica Maxima festival organized by the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra. Our cooperation so far has resulted in the guest appearances of musical greats such as David Geringas, Aiman Mussakhajayev, Eldar Saparayev, Elena Denisova, Frederic Moreau, Elizabeth Pitcairn, Caroline Adomeit, Dora Schwarzberg-Romanov, Luz Leskowitz, Alexei Kornienko, Elena Denisova, Stjepan Hauser, Marija Vidović, Eunsil Kang, Ruben Dalabaltayan and many others.
Zagrebački komorni orkestar čine glazbenici koji izvodeći baroknu, klasičnu i suvremenu glazbu žele široj publici predstaviti bogatstvo i ljepotu ozbiljnih nota. Naša dosadašnja suradnja rezultirala je gostovanjem glazbenih velikana poput Davida Geringasa, Aiman Mussakhajayeva, Eldar Saparayev, Elene Denisove, Frederic Moreau, Elizabeth Pitcairn, Caroline Adomeit, Dora Schwarzberg-Romanov, Luz Leskowitz, Alexei Kornienko, Elena Denisova, Stjepan Hauser, Marija Vidović, Eunsil Kang, Ruben Dalabaltayan te mnogih drugih.
